Joy is not the opposite of happiness. Joy IS happiness — specifically, happiness in God.
Happiness in circumstances is fragile. Happiness in God endures because God endures.
Two corrections change everything:
1. JOY IS HAPPINESS IN GOD — not happiness versus joy, but source. Hebrew asher and Greek makarios mean happy. To be blessed is to be truly happy in God.
2. JOY BECOMES COMPLETE WHEN EXPRESSED — 1 John 1:4, 2 John 12, John 15:11. Joy travels by speaking, singing, and sharing face-to-face.
