Three simple words carry profound meaning: For His Glory.
These words aren't just a tagline or a brand name—they're a declaration of purpose, a statement of mission, a reminder of why we exist. Everything we do, everything we are, everything we hope to become is for His glory.
Our For His Glory collection celebrates this foundational truth, reminding us that life isn't about our own glory, success, or recognition—it's about bringing glory to God in everything.
The Biblical Foundation
The call to live for God's glory saturates Scripture.
1 Corinthians 10:31
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
This verse is comprehensive in scope. Whatever you do—not just spiritual activities, but everything—should be done for God's glory. Eating, drinking, working, resting, playing, serving—all of it is meant to glorify God.
Colossians 3:17
"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Every word you speak and every action you take should be done in Jesus' name, for God's glory, with thanksgiving.
Romans 11:36
"For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen."
All things originate from God, are sustained by God, and exist for God. Therefore, all glory belongs to Him.
What Does It Mean to Live For His Glory?
Living for God's glory means making His fame, His honor, and His reputation your highest priority.
It's About God, Not You
Living for God's glory requires a fundamental shift from self-centeredness to God-centeredness. It means asking not "What will make me happy?" but "What will bring God glory?"
John the Baptist modeled this perfectly: "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30). As God's glory increases in your life, your own glory decreases.
It's Comprehensive
Living for God's glory isn't limited to "spiritual" activities. It encompasses every area of life:
- Your work – Done with excellence and integrity for God's glory
- Your relationships – Marked by love, grace, and truth for God's glory
- Your words – Speaking truth, encouragement, and wisdom for God's glory
- Your recreation – Enjoyed with gratitude and moderation for God's glory
- Your suffering – Endured with faith and hope for God's glory
- Your worship – Offered with sincerity and passion for God's glory
It's Intentional
Living for God's glory doesn't happen accidentally. It requires intentionality, mindfulness, and constant reorientation of your heart toward God.
Before you speak, ask: "Will this bring God glory?" Before you act, consider: "Does this honor God?" Before you decide, pray: "What choice will glorify God most?"
How to Live For His Glory
Practically speaking, how do we live for God's glory in everyday life?
1. Know God
You can't glorify a God you don't know. The more you know God—His character, His attributes, His ways—the more you'll be able to reflect His glory.
Jesus prayed: "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3).
2. Obey God
Obedience glorifies God by demonstrating that His ways are good, His commands are trustworthy, and His will is best.
Jesus said: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15). Obedience is the fruit of love, and love glorifies God.
3. Reflect God's Character
When you display love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23), you reflect God's character and bring Him glory.
Jesus said: "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).
4. Proclaim God's Truth
When you share the gospel, testify to God's goodness, and speak truth in love, you glorify God by making His name known.
Psalm 96:3 commands: "Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!"
5. Trust God in Trials
When you trust God in the midst of suffering, you glorify Him by demonstrating that He is worthy of trust even when life is hard.
1 Peter 4:16 says: "Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name."
6. Give Thanks
Gratitude glorifies God by acknowledging that every good gift comes from Him.
Psalm 50:23 declares: "The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me."
The Motivation: God's Glory, Not Ours
Living for God's glory requires dying to the desire for our own glory.
The Danger of Self-Glory
Our natural tendency is to seek our own glory—our own recognition, praise, and honor. But this is idolatry. It puts ourselves in the place that belongs to God alone.
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for this: "How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?" (John 5:44).
The Freedom of God's Glory
Paradoxically, when you stop seeking your own glory and start seeking God's glory, you find freedom. You're no longer enslaved to others' opinions, no longer driven by the need for recognition, no longer crushed by criticism.
When God's glory is your goal, you're free to serve without needing credit, to give without needing recognition, to love without needing reciprocation.
The Ultimate Example: Jesus
Jesus is the perfect example of living for God's glory.
He Sought the Father's Glory
Jesus said: "I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge" (John 8:50).
Throughout His ministry, Jesus consistently pointed people to the Father, gave credit to the Father, and sought the Father's glory, not His own.
He Glorified the Father Through Obedience
Jesus prayed: "I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do" (John 17:4).
Jesus glorified the Father by perfectly obeying Him, even to the point of death on a cross.
He Invites Us to Join Him
Jesus prayed for His disciples: "The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one" (John 17:22).
We're invited to participate in the glory of God by being united to Christ and reflecting His character.
The Eternal Perspective
Living for God's glory isn't just about this life—it's about eternity.
Eternal Rewards
While we don't serve God to earn rewards, Scripture promises that those who live for God's glory will receive eternal rewards.
1 Corinthians 3:13-14 says: "Each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward."
Eternal Glory
Paul puts our present sufferings in eternal perspective: "For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison" (2 Corinthians 4:17).
The glory we'll experience in eternity far outweighs any sacrifice we make for God's glory now.
